A Little Bit About Me
Born in Burlington, Vermont and raised in New Haven, New York, Mike tried everything from sculpting dental prosthetics to auditing books in accounting — even racing motorcycles — before deciding on a career in architecture. The common theme was getting to combine artistic vision with science and performance, which is exactly what drew him to his current career.
Mike believes that architecture done well is more than a backdrop for our lives. It’s a catalyst for a better existence. He enjoys digging into the details, striving for quality craftsmanship and exploring many approaches to a given project to truly maximize its potential.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Utah, after which he spent four years living in Japan. During this time, he traveled all over Japan, Korea and the islands of Micronesia as he not only designed, developed and executed various architecture projects, but also absorbed the diverse cultures of each area.
Outside of work, Mike combines his artistic vision with science and performance by making pottery and furniture and riding and racing motorcycles. He also loves spending time outdoors, dining and traveling with his family.
