Hillsden House

I learned a lot from the owner and project team, who had great design vision and attention to craft. I enjoyed the challenge of working with an existing foundation and other constraints of the site.

A Little BIt About Me

Matt draws inspiration from the vast landscapes of the West, its architecture and history of place. His approach combines the unique character of each project with the endless possibilities of space and structure. Matt appreciates simple and focused solutions to complex architectural problems and loves the process of partnering with clients, consultants, contractors, and craftsmen. He spent several years early in his career working on custom furniture and millwork, and has been practicing architecture since 2006.
Matt earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Utah. As a student he participated in design studios in both Japan and Spain. He also won first prize in a national design competition and a Faculty Award of Design Excellence for his thesis project exploring the potential of organic urban farming and sustainable architecture in the Salt Lake Valley.
